April 6th!!!! and yes we're ahead on Class 2's!!!

So i found a Class two today and she is such a darling patient. I think she has given me the best OHI experience since she was a smoker and drinker = High risk for Oral cancer, Perio, and lesions! It was such a go talk I had with her to the point that she understood and was very compliant and helpful. I gave her great OHI aids and especially printed out handouts for her to take home and learn more about what we talked about! Yes I feel like the best Hygienist ever! Goal met.... 1 Quad, OD, XRAYS, and a through OHI :)

Thanks!

April YIKES! 4-4-11

Well for starters HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!
But wow has it been awful the past few days.. well apparently one of my little girls cancelled and so I have one one day and the other the other day. GRRR so now I had to see a little girl and two quads of a Class three today... or that was the plan! I'm so sad gees! My 1A came in ( the little girl) but then my Class 3 had high blood pressure that would not go down! Well I did the most honest and hard thing I had to do..... I let him go and gave him a physicians consult... :( You have no idea how hard that was. Luckily I have that next afternoon free with my last 1A but it still makes me made that I have to go through that fiasco again! set up break down ! GRRR

Oh well .. until the end of the semester it's going to be like that I fear...

3-30-11

YES! I did it again! I finished a patient! I'm so happy she had to get numb and even then she was hard but I did it! In one appointment I did two quads of a Class 3 and one quad of a Class 2 WOOT! I'm feeling so great! But my new goal now is to finish the semester strong! I'm so worried about getting my class 3 in soon! But a second yr saw him first so I'm sure it will be a great experience! I also have two Little Girls I'm seeing! Yay for little girls!  I think it's going to be the best!

So that's the goal finish strong and keep to the schedule :)

3-28-11

Alright so today went so much better! I had a patient today who was very unpleasant before but turned out to be one of my favorite patients! Wow I was so relieved I finished a Class 2 patient in one clinic session... I honestly think it was a class 5 patient but since I had done the OD and OHI before it turned out really nice today! :) I'm so happy to be a hygienist! I love all my instructors too! Instructor Vining was really helpful today!

I think I'm actually getting faster and there is a light at the end of the tunnel! My goal was for sure met today and Wednesday I have a patient coming in who also had to be rescheduled so wish me luck on finishing her!

March 23rd and the terrible week continues....

Well Wednesday patient showed up, hoped for a class three, ended up with a class 2 GRRRR! I don't need any more class two's so that was somewhat disappointing and also my patient tried to pull the one a appointment card, after I had specifically told her we needed two! I don't mind bringing people back and cleaning them but wow! I spend all my time working on this patient and they tell me that if I don't finish today they won't come back! GRR! what could be worse! but oh little did I know....

The Second half of the day I waited with midtown to get my xray requirements done... Well that ended up being disastrous because I got yelled at for help students and CA like my instructor told me too and then yelled at by the clinic manager for not waiting and trying to do things that aren't my job! GRR! I sometimes regret working at the clinic, because since I know so much people ask me to do things that I don't have time for. It makes me feel sad that i can't help but I'm unable to get stuff done!

Well I guess after the most awful day I did get Two Pano's, BWS, 1PA, and 1quad of a class 2 thanks to helpful instructors.

Wow what a week and it's not done yet...

March 21st What a Monday....

So over the spring break week I received a call that my patient had cancelled for Monday and I was out a patient. Not only did I not get to relax at all over my spring break but I was now stressing out about requirements and seeing if I could find a patient for Monday. Luckily my peers came to the rescue and were able to find me a patient on such short notice. Now that I had a patient, Monday morning came around and I had to prepare to see two patients in two clinic sessions all day. My patient who I had to schedule randomly in the morning Monday was this sweet old man who came into the clinic very distraught about his BP not being low enough. WoW! Did I not know what I was in for.... not only does he have high blood pressure but he also has diabetes, and a list full of medications! I spend my whole clinic session writing and looking up all his medications as well as taking his blood glucose! UGH I was so stressed and upset I did poorly on my appointment for the day.

My next patient of the day was extremely nice and relaxed! I loved treating her! I passed off a PE, finished her cleaning, and had a pleasant chat with her about gingivitis and how you need to come in for a cleaning every 6 months. I felt like I was a lot calmer because I was in my own pod and knew that flow of everything.

But that didn't end my day... so I thought I would be ok not to eat all day and not take my medicine. I found out that was a huge mistake and ended up going home really sick and feeling useless as a hygienist. Sometimes these days happen and it bruises my ego and I have just decided this week is not my week.

3-9-11 YIKES!

So I haven't written in a while but that is because I had the unfortunate experience of being in a car accident! Yeah all I can say is I was in pain enough to not be able to see patients on Monday. Well Today Wednesday wasn't that great either. I saw my first 1A anticipating that everything was going to go fast, easy, and breezy... Oh how I was mistaken. This little girl was sweet and really sweet but man when you got in her mouth she drooled every where and I was doing two sealants but every time I was ready to place it she would lick her tooth! From there I would then have to redo the bond and hope she would not lick it again. Not only did that happen but I had to wait 30 mins for the doctor to come check if I could even put on the sealant! GRRR So long story short it took my whole appointment and I was unable to start a class3 patient that I was hoping for because I now am left with none! That was my week last week... problem after problem... after problem.... but I guess to had one positive note I got an A on my DH test :)

Signing off :)
